JOB DESCRIPTION
Statisticians work on pharmaceutical market research projects that involve advanced statistical models and techniques. Primary focus is on analyzing primary, secondary and Big Data with state-of-the-art data analysis tools to improve our understanding of treatment pathways and physician prescription decisions. A strong theoretical foundation in principles of statistics and an ability to utilize advanced statistical modeling techniques such as regression, discriminant analysis, and cluster analysis to answer the research questions is needed
Statisticians will have the followings tasks and proportion of time spent in different tasks
- Use tabulation packages such as Wincross and statistical packages such as SPSS, SAS, Latent Gold and CART modeling software (Classification and Regression Trees)
- Conduct data analysis using tools such as SAS, SPSS and WINCROSS with a number of different data sources such as Electronic Health Records, Anonymous Longitudinal Patient Data, Laboratory data, and survey research data
- Analyze survey or secondary data to tease out insights and provide answers to clients’ business questions on patients’ treatment journey
- Write statistical code to compile, concatenate, organize, recode, tabulate and output data from multiple types of structured and unstructured databases.
- Use state-of-the-art analytic techniques to develop descriptive and predictive models of prescribing behavior
- Understand various triggers in treatment journey and disease progression to identify optimal treatment outcomes by building complicated probability models
- Create user friendly tools using MS Excel and Visual Basic that can simulate product and market scenarios
- Run thousands of market simulations to enable smart business decisions
- Set up frameworks for complex forecasting models and provide valuable, quantifiable insights about future performance of client companies’ pipeline and inline medications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, or Mathematics or Econometrics or a related field or equivalent
- Strong theoretical foundation in principles of statistics, multivariate statistical techniques and data mining concepts
- Critical thinking, analytical mindset, and intellectual curiosity are essential
- Attention to detail is required
- Thorough expertise in MS Excel is required
- Comfort with SPSS or SAS is strongly preferred
- Willing to work in a consulting environment
- High-energy individual, “can-do” attitude a must
- Good communication skills are a plus
